Last couple of weeks ago.. i 'balik kampung' - PENANG...island of really GOOD FOOD..
Although my trip back to Penang was quite a short one, i did some how snap a few photos of famous food where travellers could really show up there and taste it themself...
To start off, breakfast.. one can get really nice toast bread and half-boiled eggs from this famous stall. Its called Toh Soon Cafe and its located at the beginning of Campbell Street. Its in a very small lane opposite a stall selling bags, hats and etc.. By the way, our Chief Minister, Mr Lim has his breakfast there as well.
Now, if you think that having bread only is NOT enough for your tummy. You can head up to Gurney Drive. As you are passing by Gurney Hotel, Evergreen Laurel and Corner Club (should be on your left hand side).. as you go along this route, you will see a very small food court next to mini mart (7-11 i think)....There, you can find among the best mamak mee goreng EVER.. (should try the rebus).. You can add in more stuffs like fish egg (highly recommended) and it will be a superb lunch. After the wonderful mee rebus, get a cold coconut juice. It will sum up everything...Price will range from RM3-RM10/plate depending on additional stuffs..
So..now that i have got your stomach covered from breakfast till lunch...what about a light snack for the afternoon tea time. Everybody knows whats a rojak means rite? In KL, rojak means lots of cucumber and mengkuang and prawn crackers and sauce stuffs.. in Penang, its different. Its called pasembur.
Apart from the usual vege stuffs, it comes with marinated jelly fish. A plate cost around RM5 and its bigh enough for 2 person. To complete this, get a glass of freshly drained sugar cane juice. Perfect match. Where is this place located? Its in a market food court called Batu Lancang and its off Green Lane road.
Mee goreng, toast bread, pasembur, noted!
